Newquay surf school’s top picks for food in Cornwall

Another small guide on our top places to eat..

As you’ve probably gathered by now eating is a big part of our lives at Westcountry, if we aren’t surfing we are usually hunting out the top places to eat and in Cornwall!

We’ve decided we will compile a  Crème de la crème list places to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner to take out the guesswork when you come to visit our beautiful homelands. So let’s get straight into it and tantalise those tastebuds..

SLICE OF CORNWALL

Hidden in the rolling countryside just a short drive from the picturesque town Falmouth, Slice of Cornwall resides surrounded by beautiful flowers and lush greenery.

This place really does have it all, besides from being set in beautiful gardens and having a super relaxed vibe, the food is unreal and the healthy portions are my kind of size!

Let’s start with the waffles because let’s be honest a good waffle is heavenly and they really do top the charts with their all butter, brioche, hot iron rendition, you can enjoy these sweet or savoury and I can assure you whichever you choose you won’t be disappointed..my favourite is the berry brownie waffles.. be warned they are a big eat but so worth it!

Aside from delicious waffles they have a tonne of breakfast and lunch options which are all a little extra than you standard cafe, expect boujee sandwiches and taste sensations galore, not to mention one of my favourite places for a chai latte! If that wasn’t enough they also cater for gluten free and vegan diets, a win all round! These will all taste even better after a surf lesson at our Newquay surf school.

COOMBSEHEAD FARM

An extraordinary place that will be an experience that you will never forget. If you are looking for a place for a special occasion then look no further.

Coombsehead farm  is set amongst 66 acres of woodlands, meadows and oak lined streams creating the most magical ambience whilst you eat sustainable food that has come straight from the farm that surrounds you.

The journey you take whilst dining in the historic grounds includes around 13 small dishes with most of the produce coming straight from the working farm including all the meat and seasonal vegetables not to mention some of the best freshly baked sourdough bread in Cornwall!

This place holds a special place in my heart and really is a must if you are a true food lover and want to experience some of the best, freshest Cornish produce!

BABU

In Newquay close our surf school lays this little gem. This usually lands as a weekly eat.. a taste that never tires the palette!

When you think of kebabs it’s usually an end to night of drinking and includes some questionable meat but these kebabs are as far away from that as you can imagine, kebabs from babu are something to be savoured and definitely no alcohol needed to enjoy!

Not only are the kebabs insanely good you can enjoy the filling as the most sensational salad if gluten is a no no. Everything that they produce is tasty and flavoursome and leaves you wanting more. My absolute favourite thing to eat is their chicken shish with a side of the greatest potato nuggets you’ve ever tried!

If you fancy a night in then they also offer takeout so you can enjoy these finger-licking treats from the comfort of your own sofa.

NEWYARD PANTRY

Two words.. HOT CHOCOLATE! Not just any hot chocolate .. toasted marshmallow topped hot chocolate a perfect treat after a walk around their lovely Edwardian walled gardens.

As well as one of the best hot chocolates they have incredibly indulgent cakes and light bites that are little more special than you average featuring beautifully cooked fish, cheeses, meats and even stone baked pizzas. A lovely place to go for a lazy afternoon basking in the sun. If evening dining is more your think you can also visit their Michelin star restaurant in the evening  for a six course taste adventure!

BOOS KOOS

Last but not least on our little list of goodness is a place to get your ultimate burger fix! I would say some of the best burgers in Cornwall are served right here.

This American style diner serves the most delicious handmade prime steak burgers with literally any topping you can think of including the option to add a third patty to any burger- perfect for hungry surfers!

As well as burgers they offer hot dogs, chicken burgers, pulled pork sandwiches and the most perfect grilled cheese sandwich… and if that wasn’t enough their sides menu is just as mouth watering as their mains - make sure you don’t miss out  on their tater tots!!

They are also famous for their ice cream shake builder where you can choose from their list of a gazillion chocolate bars, toppings, sauces and everything in between!

So I would say in a nutshell Boos Koos comes out top when you are thinking of having a post surf feed up!
