General
West Country Surf School Ltd (Westcountry Surf) is the supplier of all activities, vouchers & merchandising that appear on surfingschool.co.uk operating at locations, Top Field Car Park, Watergate Bay, Newquay, TR8 4AA and Layback Coffee & Surf Shop, 28A Crantock Street, Newquay TR7 1JR.
When you (booker, participant) purchase an activity or a voucher from Westcountry Surf, it is valid only at one or more of the locations stated above, and bound by the terms and conditions as listed here and any purchase confirmation email.
Safety
All participants of an activity are required to check-in to either Top Field Car Park, Watergate Bay or Layback Coffee & Surf School, Newquay as specified on your booking confirmation, and at the time & date as booked.
Before your surfing lesson, a waiver and / or indemnity form must be completed and all participants must undergo a safety briefing.
Surfers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (who are over 18 years of age) on the day of the lesson, who will be required to authorise participation by way of signature. If the parent or guardian is not participating, we ask that they have watched the training video and are accessible / available for the duration of the lesson on the day.
For your lesson, we will provide you with a sola wetsuit and softech board. Please bring swimwear, flipflops & a towel.
Westcountry Surf provide professional surfing instructors who are fully trained and are a mix of professional surfers and lifeguards.
They reserve the right to end a lesson if they believe the surfer may endanger themselves or other members of the public.
Westcountry Surf is fully inclusive and welcomes ALL. If any member of your booking, however, has additional needs (such as a physical disability or autism), it is important that we receive as much advanced notice as possible before your lesson. We can then make the required preparations to ensure your learning and enjoyment are maximised.

Packages & Prices
The prices displayed on surfingschool.co.uk are correct to the best of our knowledge and are maintained on a regular basis. Any activity may be removed or changed by Westcountry Surf at any time, along with the associated price. In the event of such change occurring after your booking confirmation but before the activity has taken place, we will fully honour your booked activity type and at the price you paid.
The activity prices displayed on surfingschool.co.uk, unless otherwise stated, are for 1 adult person. For example, by selecting 1 x activity entitles a maximum of 1 adult person to enjoy a surfing lesson. If you require more surfers to join in a group, then press on the + sign of the quantity box offered during the booking process.
All under 16 year olds need to be added separately in the quantity box underneath, also by using the + sign as required.
A Booking Fee is applied to purchases of activities and vouchers, both online and over the phone. This Booking Fee is applied just once per transaction, regardless of the quantity, value and type of activity chosen within any single purchase. The Booking Fee helps us to cover our general overheads such as keeping our website ticking over for online bookings and other business. It also helps us cover the wide range of credit card commissions and ensures we're able to look after our hard-working team being an important part of our business that allows us to offer you the very best experience.
Duration
All lessons are 2 hours long. This includes a safety brief and some stretching exercises prior to commencing the lesson.
Booking Confirmations
Westcountry Surf booking confirmations (for a fixed time, date & location) & voucher purchases are delivered by email in the form of an e-ticket or e-voucher to the e-mail address submitted by the person making the booking.
Be aware that some e-mail accounts may categorise our confirmations as unwanted or 'spam' e-mail, although this is rare. Westcountry Surf is not liable or responsible for any loss suffered as a result of an e-mail being blocked by an Email Provider's spam filters or firewall settings.
It is entirely the responsibility of the person making the booking to ensure that they (and all participants in their group) have read and understood the booking confirmation, e-ticket and e-voucher prior to arrival.
Westcountry Surf cannot be held responsible for those arriving late or not at all for their activity.
Voucher Purchases
(a) Delivery
Voucher purchases are delivered by email in the form of an e-voucher to the email address submitted by the purchaser. Be aware that some email accounts may categorise our email confirmations as unwanted or 'spam' email. Westcountry Surf is not liable or responsible for any loss suffered as a result of an e-mail being blocked by an Email Provider's spam filters or firewall settings.
Westcountry Surf may also offer hard-copy, physical vouchers on-site or at certain events.
(b) Voucher redemption
All vouchers must be booked online at surfingschool.co.uk or via our team on 07772 251 778. Vouchers may be redeemed at either Top Field Car Park, Watergate Bay or if applicable, Layback Coffee & Surf School, Newquay.
(c) Validity
Vouchers are issued with a clearly specified expiry date and all activities must be booked or taken on or before that date. Failure to do so within this time period will lose your right to participate.
Westcountry Surf does not offer voucher extension time periods and reserves the right to refuse participants who arrive without a valid voucher or e-voucher.
(d) Transfer
All vouchers are transferable to third parties who are bound by these terms & conditions and those within the purchase email confirmation.
(e) Loss
Westcountry Surf is unable to take responsibility if you lose or misplace your voucher, or is stolen, or for any loss you may incur as a result of impersonation or identity fraud.
(f) Voucher holders
All Voucher holders are subject to all terms & conditions as detailed.
Availability
Surfing activities are typically open from 9.30am until 4.30pm, 7 days a week, and closing during the November and December quieter periods.
Bookings should be made as far in advance as possible especially during our busiest times, such as weekends and school, public & bank holidays.
You should not make any travel or accommodation arrangements in connection with your booking until you have received your booking confirmation via e-mail, with a specified time, date and location.
Duration and Time
The lesson time booked is a guide time only. We are unable to guarantee that you will commence your lesson at the exact time as detailed on your booking confirmation. However, we endeavour to stick to these times as rigidly as possible.
Sometimes we have fog, or not enough waves for you to have a surf lesson.
For the avoidance of any doubt, please simply ensure you arrive no later than the time given on your confirmation email.
A standard surfing lesson lasts for 2 hours including a safety brief and stretching exercises prior to commencing.
If you are attending as part of a group, the time on-site may vary.

Late Arrivals & No-shows
Please don't miss your lesson. All our lessons are manifested and we are not able to accommodate nor refund late arrivals and no-shows under any circumstances.
Bookings are made with a fixed date and time, all of which will be clearly communicated upon booking and via a confirmation booking e-mail.
We have a lovely open all year round popular Hangout Café (Top Field, Watergate Bay) and also Layback Café in Newquay, so at both of our locations you can enjoy a coffee or tea and something to eat.
We have great views across Watergate Bay at the Hangout Cafe, so an early arrival is strongly advised.
Do not forget that the traffic can be really heavy during the busy seasonal periods, so please allow plenty of time for your journey.
Rescheduling
(a) Single Surfing Lesson
If you know you will not be able to make your activity, you may ask us to reschedule and we will do our very best to rearrange the lesson for you to the next available day and time.

(b) Group or School Lessons
Where you have booked a group or school lesson, you may reschedule by providing us enough notice as required to be able to slot you into our busy lessons calendar at the next availability.
Descriptions & Images
All descriptions on our website and in our marketing material are correct at the time of going to press.
Descriptions may be updated throughout the year and activities may change.
Westcountry Surf shall not be responsible for the descriptions and images used on external websites.
Transfer & Refund policy
If you know you will be unable to make your lesson you can transfer them to another person, so long as the lesson takes place at the same time, date and location as the original booking.
You do not need to notify Westcountry Surf of name changes before arrival unless there is an age alteration from an adult to a person under 16 years of age.
If you wish to cancel your booking, you can do so by contacting us immediately that you were not intending to make such a booking.
Refunds shall be made at the discretion of Westcountry Surf, who reserve the right to charge a 15% administrative fee.
Refunds are made to the same payment source as the original purchase, and if given, they are centrally processed through our Accounts Team, and will be less any booking fee applied to the original transaction. Please allow at least 10 workings days for refunds to be processed.
We’re unable to offer refunds onsite at either of our locations.
In the event that Westcountry Surf is forced to close or reduce the number of people allowed onto a group lesson, we will contact you with as much advanced notice as possible.
If you are affected by this we will reschedule for the next available time and date to suit all parties.
Westcountry Surf is unable to reimburse travel, accommodation or any costs / expenses you may incur in relation to this reschedule.
Westcountry Surf Cancellations
Westcountry Surf reserves the right to cancel lessons at short notice under any circumstances. You can be assured that this would only happen in the event of a force majeure, adverse or dangerous weather conditions, unforeseen safety issues or anything else outside of our control.
In the event that Westcountry Surf is forced to cancel your lesson, we will contact you with as much advanced notice as possible.
If you are affected by this, we will reschedule for the next available time and date.
Westcountry Surf is unable to offer refunds, nor do we reimburse travel, accommodation or any costs / expenses you may incur in relation to the cancelled experience.
Insurance
Westcountry Surf holds valid public liability insurance. Please contact us in advance if you wish to view our policy.
Personal Possessions
It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that their personal belongings are either in their possession, or in a secured location for the full time period of their activity.
Westcountry Surf cannot be held responsible for any items lost nor stolen at any of our locations and accept no financial obligation nor responsibility for any such loss which has occurred.
Animal & Pet Policy
Westcountry Surf do not allow pets or animals onto our locations where you are the sole guardian as a participant. Such pets or animals must have a non-participant guardian for the duration of your activity.
Merchandise
All merchandise is on-line on our website, subject to availability and incurring a charge for the item as listed and shown on that product webpage. Prices of merchandise may vary throughout the year.
